Living the Legacy | FAQs

Is my Living the Legacy pledge in addition to my regular monthly giving?
Yes. Your gift to the capital campaign is over and above your regular annual pledge.

How much time do I have to make my gift?
Three full years. You can make your gift all at once, in 36 equal payments, or you can create a more flexible payment plan that works better for your family. For example, you could give a smaller amount in the first year of the campaign, and then increase the amount in subsequent years until the balance is paid.

What about non-cash gifts?
Many families may decide to make gifts of stocks and bonds rather than cash. Note: do not sell them first – simply transfer ownership to the church. Selling these assets may subject you to capital gains tax. By simply transferring them to the church, you will receive the full benefit of the deduction and the church receives full benefit of the gift. Contact the church office for more information about in-kind donations.

When do I turn in my pledge card?
Pledge cards will be passed out this Sunday at the Reunion dinner, which is 5-7 p.m. at the Hotel InterContinental. If you cannot attend the dinner, a pledge card will be mailed to you. Pledge cards will be turned in during worship services on Sunday, April 27. If you cannot be present on April 27, please mail your card as soon as possible.

When does pledging start?
Providing the capital campaign is approved at the All Church Conference on May 18, the first pledges can be made in June of this year.

When do we plan to begin construction? When will it be completed?
Groundbreaking will take place in July. Projected completion is December 2009.

What is the goal of the campaign?
The campaign goal is $10 million.

How do I know how much to pledge?
The campaign goal does not rely on each family giving an equal share – but an equal sacrifice. As you think about your gift, pray the campaign prayer. Ask, “Lord, what do you want to do through me?”
