When faced with major surgery or hospitalization because of serious illness, one of the greatest forms of comfort can be the assurance of the support, love and prayers of family, friends and community. One of the ways the Christ UMC community has of physically providing that kind of support, love and prayers is through the gift of a Prayer Shawl. These elegant and beautiful shawls are hand made by members of the congregation who then gather around the shawls and offer prayers for those who will receive them. They are then presented at the hospital by one of the Christ UMC chaplains. Each shawl is offered as gifts in the name of Jesus’ love and grace.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is one of the essential ways our members express their care for one another through the Care Center.
