This Sunday, Christ UMC will collect a special offering to support Africa University in Zimbabwe, the sole United Methodist institution of higher learning in Africa. Beginning with only 40 students 15 years ago, Africa University now educates 1,300 students from 25 African countries in multiple fields of study. Donated funds will build a new health clinic and fund scholarships for students pursuing degrees in health sciences; both are desperately needed. This is an initiative of Bishop Alfred Norris and a focus for the season of Lent of the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
